10-1-10 and 10-2-10 Oswego, NY

Yesterday was a busy day of picking through the mast support scrap yard and adapting some of the assemblies to the boat.  I think we came up with a very good and substantial support system.  We did not need to buy any wood, only some fasteners.  It was a long day preparing for unstepping the mast, scheduled for the next day.
Today (Saturday) the Marina used their crane and unstepped the mast.  I am very happy to say that it all fit as planned.  After the mast was set in the supports we put together, we spend most of the day adding the center support and tying off the wire stays and jib fuller track.
The locks have been closed since Thursday, when there was a large amount of rain.  The river has been flowing very rapidly.  I walked over to the first lock and talked to the person that runs that lock.  He said that the canal may be shut down until Tuesday or Wednesday, due to high water levels in the river.

  1. Wow! Amazing pictures. The mast support is pretty nice...good job on the planning/ engineering. Reduce, reuse, recycle. I love it! Stay safe. Hope the locks open soon so you can be on your way. Love you dad! P.S. it was really nice talking to you tonight. We miss you.
